iWork’11 – Available Exclusively for Download

“Apple’s revised plans currently call for the company to launch the new productivity suite alongside the forthcoming Mac App Store, these same people say. The applications included in the bundle — Pages, Numbers and Keynote — will be available for purchase individually when the Mac App Store debuts.

Those familiar with the matter said it remains undecided whether Apple will also release a retail box version of the iWork suite, as it has been sold previously. Alternatively, it could become the first piece of major Mac software from the Cupertino-based company to be available exclusively online.”

iTunes Live Streaming

A text label for “iTunes Live Streaming URL” discovered in iTunes 10.1 suggests Apple’s announcement tomorrow will indeed launch the iTunes Live brand it trademarked earlier this year.

In May, Apple trademarked the brand “iTunes Live,” leading to speculation it would launch a live streaming service, likely based in part on its Lala acquisition. However, Apple’s ability to launch its streaming media service–long believed to be a cloud storage solution for users rather than a subscription service–has been held up by negotiations with labels, who want additional licensing fees from Apple for allowing users to play back their own music from Apple-hosted remote storage.

Oh boy. New Air? Verizon iPhone? Jobs grows a huge beard? Probably not. Apple wants to talk about “what’s new for the Mac,” which could mean some hardware — but the company definitely wants to talk software too. See that lion sneaking around behind the logo? Apple is bringing the media out to Cupertino to discuss (amongst other things) the next version of OS X. That’s right — a non-mobile product. If you think it’s too early for 10.7, don’t worry…

Apresentação do Novo Tablet da Apple

“I spoke to a source at Apple this morning, before the invite hit my inbox, who said the event would likely focus on three projects: The tablet device, iPhone 4, and a new round of iLife 2010 software,” Morris wrote. “While we won’t see new iPhone hardware just yet, we will see the next-generation software.”

Morris went on to offer a caveat that Apple sometimes changes its mind about what products to introduce at the last minute. He noted last September’s iPod unveiling, when a new iPod touch was introduced without a camera due to rumored technical issues. Sources have told AppleInsider that the company still intends to add a camera to a future iPod touch.

The report also follows a rumor from earlier this month that Apple could ship a multi-touch version of iWork when the tablet debuts. It was not said whether iLife 2010 would be available for the tablet.

Ontem, foi lançada a versão final do novo anti-vírus da Panda Security. A novidade é que é um dos primeiros a funcionar segundo o conceito de “cloud computing” (“computação em nuvem”, se quiserem uma tradução literal). E o que é que isto significa? Significa que a maioria do processamento de dados será efectuado pelos servidores da empresa de anti-vírus em vez do computador do utilizador, como acontece tradicionalmente.

Não está nos meus planos instalar o software no meu computador. No entanto, recomendo o seu download a quem queira usufruir duma versão gratuita e completa desta aplicação. A crítica da imprensa especializada tem sido claramente favorável e o feedback dos utilizadores têm sido positivo em relação à sua utilização (simples e com consumo de poucos recursos). Assim, penso que o software será uma óptima solução para quem esteja farto do seu anti-vírus ou simplesmente queira mudar para uma versão sem qualquer custo.

Tenho pouquíssimo tempo. Recebi este convite da Microsoft por ter participado na fase de testes do novo sistema operativo (como membro da comunidade MSDN). As festas vão multiplicar-se um pouco por todo o mundo e, claro, nós não podíamos escapar.

Eu não tenho por hábito participar em concursos do género mas de qualquer modo posso passar a informação que me mandaram para quem esteja interessado em participar. A probabilidade pode baixar mas sempre são 7 portáteis da Toshiba para dar amanhã. ;)

Ipod Touch de 3ª Geração

Novo iPodHá artigos que estão na gaveta do blogue há meses e alguns deles até estão relacionados com algumas novidades tecnológicas que já não o são. O novo browser Opera 10 quando estava na sua fase beta, por exemplo.

O perfeccionismo só dá para os acumular e como só há tempo para as rápidas cá estão algumas novidades tecnológicas e “adivinhas”:

A Apple vai organizar amanhã um evento para apresentar ao mundo a sua nova linha de iPod’s. Irá também certamente, disponibilizar novos conteúdos multimédia na sua iTunes Store (a menina dos olhos de ouro da marca) e, consequentemente, lançar uma nova actualização do seu software iTunes para a versão 9.

Entre as novidades na sua linha de leitores de Mp3, é praticamente certo que haverá uma nova geração de iPod’s Touch.

Mais. Há quem tenha algumas dúvidas mas o nome do evento, “It’s Only Rock and Roll’ Media Event”, pode sugerir que haverá uma novidade há muito antecipada. Será essa a da disponibilização do catálogo dos Beatles na loja online da Maçã?

Snow Leopard – O Novo Sistema Operativo da Apple

Conferência da AppleNeste momento está a decorrer a WWDC e como é de esperar serão anunciadas algumas novidades há muito esperadas pelos fanáticos da maçã.

A primeira já está aí, é o anúncio do novo sistema operativo Mac OS X. A segunda, com toda a certeza, será a apresentação da 2ª geração do telemóvel iPhone. A terceira, deverá ser o lançamento do novo serviço .Mac com um domínio “me dot com”. E, em princípio, haverá uma quarta que nem eu nem os tipos que me ajudam nestes palpites “atiramos ao ar”.

Multi-Touch no Novo Windows 7

“The first public showing of Microsoft’s next major Windows update reveals an operating system with a familiar-looking dock and a more than slight emphasis on multi-touch displays.

Demonstrated at the Wall Street Journal’s D6 Conference, Windows 7 is described by observers from the newspaper as having a touch interface recognizable to “anyone who’s ever used an iPhone.

There will also be hooks for multi-touch throughout the entire Windows interface, Microsoft’s Julie Larson-Green has said while demonstrating the technology, although none of these have been demonstrated at this early stage. The software is being built with multiple simultaneous users in mind now that touchscreens and other peripherals free users from being tied to a keyboard.

“In the next few years, the roles of speech, gesture, vision, ink, all of those will become huge,” adds Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.”
